PERUVIANS AND COLOMBIANS MAY TRAVEL TO SPAIN WITHOUT A VISA.

As stated by the Spanish Minister for Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria, Colombian and Peruvian nationals may travel to the Schengen Area without a visa as of the end of this year. The European Commission approved the measure in May 2015, which provides that Colombians and Peruvians shall be exempt from applying for a visa to enter the EU. They may remain in Europe for a period of three months.

The initiative also affects direct family members, whether parents, spouses, common law partners or children, of Spanish nationals and other EU citizens who wish to accompany them to Spain. They no longer need to apply for a Family Regrouping with an EU National visa.

The fact that they may travel to Spain without a visa does not give them total freedom to enter the country as they must meet the requirements of entry and stay in Spain as established in the regulations including justification for entry, proof of financial reliability throughout the stay, accommodation in Spain, medical insurance and proof of a return flight to the country of origin before three months which is the maximum period allowed.
